Kiwarrak Country Retreat offers stylish self contained accommodation set in a secluded garden and bushland setting, only minutes from local beaches and amenities. When it comes to business and lifestyle, we make eco friendly choices and encourage our guests to embrace our green philosophy.
The Kiwarrak Experience
Hosted by Meg and Steve, Tara and Alistair, Maya and Kalan - three generations living and working together on 10 gorgeous acres in the Manning Valley on the NSW Mid North Coast.
We live here. That matters.
When you stay at Kiwarrak, you're not arriving at a managed property with a lockbox and a PDF welcome guide. You're arriving somewhere that people genuinely love, where the gardens are tended by hand, the breakfast hamper is filled with local and home-grown produce, and the soaps in your bathroom were made by us.
We're as close as you need us, barely seen if you don't.
Green Living
At Kiwarrak Country Retreat we care for the earth and follow sustainable practices. To protect our beautiful environment that’s nestled between a national park and a state forest, we follow these eco-friendly principles:
- Home-grown and local foods
- Tank water from the rain for showers and kitchen
- Recycled paper products including toilet paper
- Natural cleaning products
- On-site recycling and composting
- Energy saving lighting
- Organic gardening
- Reusable glass for guests’ food and drinks
- Natural paints and non toxic products
- Recycled and pre-loved building material
Kiwarrak offers guests a place of natural and green surroundings; to care for the earth we reduce, recycle and reuse. In the spirit of conservation we invite you to share in our beautiful and stylish retreat.

The Cottages
The Bower is our romantic retreat for two. It has a wood-burning fire, a heated outdoor spa, and views over the lake. It's where people come to properly switch off, and it works.
The Arbour sleeps up to six across two queen bedrooms, with a sofa bed in the lounge for extra guests. It's ideal for families or a group of friends who want space, comfort, and that same unhurried atmosphere.
Both cottages are self-contained and styled with care. Old Bar Beach, the Manning River, and Wingham Farmers Market are all a short drive away — though most guests end up spending more time on the property than they ever planned to.
How We Do Things
From day one, we've been deliberate about how we run Kiwarrak. Sustainability isn't a marketing line — it's how we live, and it shapes everything about the retreat.
We harvest rainwater for the showers and kitchen, use natural and non-toxic cleaning products throughout, and manage the gardens organically. The soaps, moisturisers and toiletries in your cottage are handmade. The welcome hamper is filled with local produce and home-grown ingredients, including eggs from our chooks and honey from our own bees. Inside the cottages you'll find energy-saving lighting, reusable glass, recycled paper products, and furnishings and materials that have been repurposed wherever possible.
We think about these things so you don't have to — but we hope you notice.

The Property
Kiwarrak sits between Kiwarrak State Forest and Khappinghat National Park, surrounded by established gardens, lily-strewn dams, and a backdrop of tall Australian gums. It's quiet in a way that's increasingly hard to find; the kind of quiet where you notice the birds, slow your breathing down, and remember what a weekend is actually for.
Wander the landscaped gardens, explore the local bike and running trails or follow the Enchanted Lane and see what you discover — the kids had a hand in that one — or simply pull up a chair and do absolutely nothing, the choice is yours to do as much or as little as you like.
